A 2009 Grammy nominee, percussionist Chembo Corniel was born and raised in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, NY. A proud native of Puerto Rico, he honed his skills at the Harbor Conservatory for the Performing Arts, and also studied with the great Chucho Valdes. Chembo's most recent release, "Land of the Descendants," is a kaleidoscope of diverse musical expressions from across "The Americas."
