NEWARK: Looking for a new kind of happy hour? The Newark Museum's free Late Thursday program offers creatively inspired social evenings that have a fresh take on the Museum’s collections, through a mix of music, food, drinks, art and entertainment. The themes for the upcoming Late Thursdays are as follows: April 20: Green Up As spring returns – Get inspired to reconnect to nature. Meet some of the city’s green entrepreneurs, discover urban wildlife, and try art activities like creating a keepsake from natural materials or using Chinese brush painting to capture the cherry blossoms. May 18: Make A Noise – Explore what happens when art and sound are mixed. Turn found objects into instruments, experience live musical improvisation, and get the backstory behind works of art that employ sound and animation. June 15: Summer Solstice – Celebrate summer in the city with a laid-back evening of sights and sounds for warm nights. Make solar-powered art, vote for sunrise and sunset images from the Museum’s collection, and count down a toast to sunset on one of the longest days of the year. Free admission to Late Thursdays is made possible by McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter. A cash bar is available and light fare is available for a fee.
