Known for her portrayal of Nina Rosario in Broadway’s Tony-winning In the Heights, Mandy Gonzalez brings her impressive talents to the intimate cabaret setting with Fearless. In addition to her role in Hamilton, Gonzalez’s previous credits include playing Elphaba in Wicked, Princess Amneris in Aida, and multiple roles in Lennon. She’s also made appearances on television (Madam Secretary) and the big screen (Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe).
On Fearless, her debut solo album, Gonzalez performs powerful songs by contemporary composers like Lin-Manuel Miranda and Pulitzer Prize winner Tom Kitt. In the cabaret setting, whether she takes on a standard (like her bluesy, seductive remake of Que Será, Será) or reinvents a Springsteen song (“Born to Run”), her sultry style turns new songs into instant classics, and makes classics sound new again.
“Mandy Gonzalez is a skilled vocalist who grounds every moment in real heart and soul,” says TheaterMania. “Her ability to integrate story and song while maintaining the intimacy of the room is what makes this such a satisfying cabaret experience … (Fearless) is near-perfect.”
