NY Times, Tammy La Gorce reviews..."Vegetatian Woos a Ribs Place."
Dinosaur Bar-B-Que serves up good smoke. It's nationally acclaimed as some of the best in the country and has been featured on both the Food Network and the Travel Channel. They have seven locations, but only one in New Jersey and its conveniently located across the street from the Prudential Center. There are tasty treats to be had like the fried green tomatoes with a cayenne buttermilk ranch dressing, pit-smoked brisket served with pickled jalapeños, Korean style BBQ beef ribs or tackle the big ass pork plate. Whatever you order...fire it up with Wango Tango Habanero sauce. They have 19+ beer on tap, drawing heavily local New Jersey breweries like River Horse, Cricket Hill and even Budweiser...which is brewed right here in Newark. Fun Fact: Did you know that Dinosaur BBQ Newark is located in a building constructed back in 1890? It was originally Roehlich & Kohler Spirits & Fine Wines but over the years, it has housed many types of businesses including a chandelier factory, a haberdashery, a penny arcade and was a boxing club where Rubin “Hurricane” Carter trained. Stop in for great BBQ and enjoy some of the original architectural features like the exterior facade, original tin ceilings and the mosaic tile floors in the spirit of an old-timey Tap Room.
