The Newark Celebration 350 Committee (NC350) is a broad coalition of arts, community, academic, business and government organizations all based in Newark that have come together to celebrate the City of Newark's 350th Anniversary.
The year-long celebration will showcase the talents of the city’s citizenry and the rich history of Newark with a series of events, partnerships, parties, panels and forums taking place under the NC350 banner throughout 2016. NC350 seeks to focus the attention of the city and nation on the rich history of Newark as a way to engage people of all ages who live, work and play in the city in its continued rebirth and revitalization.
NC350 hopes to inculcate pride in identity through celebration of Newark’s history in each ward and neighborhood of Newark and to focus and direct the energy of Newark’s residents in continued rebirth and regeneration. We encourage you to get involved in NC350. The Programming Committee will accept submissions for celebration and public discussion events and on a rolling basis. You can learn about our program guidelines and fill out a form electronically for a NC350 celebration or a NC350 public discussion.
Please note: Submission of an event description form does not guarantee inclusion in or funding by NC350.
NC350 was the vision of the late Dr. Clement A. Price, Newark’s foremost historian and tireless booster of the city and its people. In his eyes, this momentous mark in time is an opportunity to take stock in ourselves and benefit from the wisdom and experience of our collective narrative.
While, sadly, he is not here in body to celebrate with us, we can honor him with NC350, and reflect on all that is beautiful about our great and complicated city. We have endured much, and have come a very long way in 350 years. We can now look forward to creating for ourselves a bright future – one that would make Dr. Price proud.
