Guys Night Out
Snow is melting, flowers are blooming and things are heating up in Newark! Tis the season to shed a layer of clothes and hit the town with your...bros? That’s right, it’s officially time to plan a guys night out. There’s nothing wrong with carving out a little time to get bromantic with your favorite buds. So, what does your ideal guy-centric outing look like? Are beer and chicken wings your thing? Or perhaps a sunny day on the links? Maybe even a night out getting naughty at a sexy hookah lounge! Any way you slice it, Newark has you covered. So whether you’re celebrating a promotion, watching the playoffs, marking the end of bachelorhood or simply keeping the bromance alive, these are your recommended hot spots for a legendary guys night out in Newark.
Prudential Center, 25 Lafayette St. - Is there anything more bromantic than beer and hockey? As the championship-caliber home of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, Newark’s Prudential Center is the ultimate destination for a great fan experience. There truly isn’t a bad seat in the house! Order beers from concessions and enjoy the fun, or for a more upscale experience, head to The Restaurant at Prudential Center located on Suite Level 1 for a wide range of New American fare and a vibrant bar with farm-to-cup drink specials. Score!
Jimenez Cigar Lounge, 31 Liberty St. - Truly a cigar smoker’s paradise, Jimenez has two smoking parlors, each with a vintage, lived-in feel and the dense scent of premium tobacco smoke. Sit back and shoot the breeze with friends while you choose from more than twenty types of hand rolled cigars. Jimenez doesn’t serve food but does have a well-stocked bar tended by a skillful mixologist equipped to craft any amazing cocktail you can think up. There’s even a back patio that is the perfect post-work hideout during the warmer months.
Fernandes Steak House, 158 Fleming Ave. - Deep in the Ironbound, housed in a towering former bank building, is Fernandes Steak House, a truly old-school establishment known for its amazing rodizio. This is your opportunity to round up a group of carne-loving friends, unbuckle your belts and sample serving after serving of juicy meat like it’s going out of style! You don’t have to be afraid to have a rousing good time in this vibrant venue. Add a few pitchers of sangria to complete your Ironbound experience.
Krug’s Tavern, 118 Wilson Ave. - Since Krug’s has been in business since 1932, it’s practically a rite of passage to stop in for what many consider to be the best burger in Newark. This local favorite is the perfect low key dive bar to meet friends and catch up over cheap beer and freshly made all-beef patties seared to juicy perfection on a hot fry grill. Crunchy mozzarella sticks with marinara make the perfect accompaniment.
Weequahic Golf Course, 1 Thomas Carmichael Drive - Did you know Newark is the home of the oldest public golf course in New Jersey? Glimpse a bit of history while you work on your putting game at Weequahic Golf Course, measuring slightly less than 6,000 yards with an ideal golfing landscape. Among the best holes on this scenic course are the uphill par five 3rd, as well as the long par four 16th. New bunkers have been added to the course for even more strategic and visual appeal. Fore!
Hell’s Kitchen Lounge, 150 Lafayette St. - Want to experience some devilish fun? Head to Hell’s Kitchen! This trendy pub and lounge has a kitschy, hipster vibe and features awesome daily happy hours, every day with a different theme. Thursday nights feature Brick City Burlesque, a sexy striptease show that will have your crew hot under the collar. Don’t worry, there are plenty of drink specials on shots, cocktails and wine to cool things down!
Redd’s Biergarten, 37 Edison Pl. - Boasting an extensive beer list and traditional Bavarian food, belly up to the bar and get ready for an authentic biergarten experience at Redd’s! Known for its affordable happy hour, Redd’s is a definite must-visit for your favorite group of guys. Sample more than twenty beers on draft and menu items like wursts, schnitzel, potato pancakes, and big pillowy pretzels with cheese-and-mustard dipping sauce to soak up the suds. Pro tip: Order up a customizable beer flight for just $8!
Nujoom Hookah Lounge, 9 Central Ave. - What spells guys night better than hookah, belly dancers and pulsing beats? Nujoom Hookah has it all for you and your fun-loving friends! This downtown lounge gets going after 10pm on Friday and Saturday nights when the DJ starts to spin and live belly dancers entertain. Order your favorite flavor of hookah and don’t forget to BYOB! A guys night out at Nujoom is a night you won’t soon forget.
Barcade Newark , 494 Broad St. - Yes, Newark's got it's own! A bar and arcade combo with classic video games and craft beer. Cheers to the perfect guys night!
