    Parks

Newark is blossoming. With nearly 50 parks to explore, there’s a bounty of breathtaking views, boardwalks, playgrounds, tennis courts, swimming pools, fields, courts and even skating facilities. Three of the region’s most impressive parks, noted below, were all designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead the creator of New York’s Central Park.

Nature calls! Branch Brook Park is our nation’s first county park, and has the largest collection of cherry trees in America! The parks contains over 5,300 cherry blossom trees, 1,600 more than Washington D.C. Each spring over 14 varietals burst into bloom across 360 acres.

Philip Roth penned Weequachic Park to literary fame. Visit this stunning 312-acre urban paradise, stroll around a lake spanning 80 acres, or play a round of golf at New Jersey’s first public course.
