Kick It In Newark During FIFA World Cup 2026™
June 11 to July 19, 2026
Newark Welcomes The World!
This summer, the New York and New Jersey region will be buzzing with energy as it hosts eight FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches, including the final. While the matches aren’t in Newark, the city provides an authentic, vibrant, and unforgettable experience for fans and visitors alike.
A True Sports City With Deep Roots.
You can probably name the teams that have represented Newark, past and present, from our hockey champions the NJ Devils, to the New York Sirens of the PWHL playing at Prudential Center, and the Newark Bears, our hometown heroes of the past. While Newark is widely known for its arts and culture, this city also has a deep-rooted love for sports and soccer.
From the historic Ironbound Soccer Club, a proud MLS NEXT member that continues to develop local and international talent, to St. Benedict's Prep Boys Soccer team, recognized as one of the top high school programs in the United States.
Just a short ride across the river, the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer and Gotham FC of the National Women’s Soccer League call Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison home.

Invest Newark - Ready, Set, Goal
World Cup Ready: Business Training Series
Program Overview:
As Newark prepares to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup™, local businesses have a unique opportunity to shine and maximize the economic benefits of this global event. The Ready, Set, Goal Business Support Grant Program is a competitive grant that offers a total of $75,000, distributed in grants of up to $5,000 to approximately 15 businesses. Funds can be used for a variety of activities, including marketing campaigns, event programming, equipment purchases, inventory, and other investments that attract and serve both visitors and local customers.
To ensure your business is fully prepared to leverage this opportunity, all grant recipients are required to attend at least one of four targeted training sessions focused on maximizing the economic impact of the World Cup. These sessions will cover essential topics such as hosting successful events, understanding FIFA restrictions, digital marketing tools, and more. Grant funds will be provided upfront, with recipients required to submit documentation and proof of expenses.
