Women's Clothing in Newark
From designer high heels to handmade jewelry by local artisans, Newark’s downtown district has everything for the discerning shopper with an eye for luxury, the bargain hunter who wants a good deal, or the spontaneous bohemian looking for something off the beaten path. Many of these stores are within walking distance of each other, close to many parking options, and a short jaunt from Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport. Make a day of it by dropping by any of the vibrant stores listed below and resting up at many of the cafes and restaurants nearby.
Closet Savvy Consignment
37 Maiden Lane
(Teachers Village)
Hours: Tuesday to Saturday,
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Get your fix of high-end fashion at bargain prices at this super stylish boutique and consignment shop tucked away in a quiet corner of Teachers Village. The store has a rotating collection of designer handbags, stylish sunglasses, and gently used high heel shoes from big names like Charlotte Olympia and Ralph Lauren. It also carries an extensive and popular line of distressed and bleached Levi shorts. When you are tired from trying on all the shoes, you can rest your feet in the store’s space age bubble chair while admiring the crystal candelabra overhead.
This shoe store at the corner of Halsey and Bank streets has something for everyone. In the front display, the shop usually has its most recent arrivals and fashion-forward designs. Sparkly double-stacked platform high heels and gravity-defying boots attract many pedestrians.
Inside, the store also offers more comfortable options such as an extensive display of Hush Puppies. It’s not just shoes – a large glass case in the back has a glittering array of costume jewelry, while a wall holds bejeweled evening clutches.

Proudly local, this funky boutique has a wide collection of handmade crafted products that range from beautiful jewelry that you can’t find anywhere else to African tribal print clutches. The store, which is owned by artists, also offers cute handbags, books, pillows, candles, and art. Besides shopping, the shop holds a popular open mic night and a monthly wine tasting event.
The Mills at Jersey Gardens
651 Kapkowski Road, Elizabeth
Hours: Monday to Saturday,
10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m
Just a short distance from downtown Newark and the airport is the large outlet mall in Elizabeth locally known as simply Jersey Gardens. The mall has a dizzying array of shops, including Claire’s, where you can buy the latest trends in jewelry and fashion accessories, and Neiman Marcus Last Call, which is usually hopping with shoppers looking to score high-end shoes and accessories at drastically marked-down prices.
