Library Services for the Blind & Physically Disabled

The Newark Public Library's Special Services Room, located on the first floor of the Main Library, features a variety of services, equipment, and programs.

The room is open Tuesdays – Fridays from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. by appointment only.

Special Services has partnered with the New Jersey State Library Braille and Talking Book Center to provide specialized equipment and media in Braille and recorded format. The New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center (TBBC), founded in 1967, is a library that provides no-cost, home-delivered services, on behalf of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled to children, teens and adults in New Jersey who have difficulty reading standard print or trouble holding a book.
