Top Food Trucks in Newark
Put on those elastic waist pants; loosen those belts, summertime is here and the food trucks are rolling into town. It may be called street food, but in the know can't wait for their next fix. So get in line, Newark's trucks are dishing out authentic flavors to go, budget friendly bites...a sure cure for the appetite blues. From cupcakes to Cambodian food, sliders to the "Soup Nazi", grab some grub, find a perch in the park and share the love. These mobile restaurants are always on the move - follow them on twitter to for their latest location, changes in schedules happen, and those pescado tacos you've been dreaming about may be just around the corner. Food truck formations can be found around Washington Park from June through October, from 11am-2pm, lining the park with live music and vendors. It's worth every bite.
MexiFlip Taco Truck [Tacos]:
As the name suggest, MexiFlip provides a tasty and unique combination of flavors representing both Mexico and the Philippines. The menu includes Chicken Mango, Pulled Pork & Carnitas Tacos or Burritos. The fusion of cultures also adds specialty items that are offered on special days like Tamales, Halal Lamb Burgers and Pancit Lumpia (a Filipino noodle dish with spring rolls). Where to find: Rutgers/NJIT on Warren Street, Wednesdays at Washington Park, and Mulberry Street
The Outslider [Burgers]:
As their slogan dictates... "Sliders aren't JUST Burgers" and The Outslider has accolades to back that up. The Outslider food truck serves up gourmet sliders that include crab cakes, pulled pork, blackened chicken and beef sliders of course.
All sliders are offered in perfect pairs. The duos are cooked to order - and all are made fresh daily!
For the ideal accompaniment, order up hand cut fries topped with salt & pepper, old bay or garlic parmesan.

Hunger Construction [Potatoes]:
This construction themed truck takes potatoes to a new level of foodie delight. Humungous potatoes are served two ways: The Cement Mixers are potatoes with the insides scooped out and stuffed, and Flatbeds transform the scooped out goodness into potato pancakes that are topped and served with a side of applesauce. Whether stuffed or topped, you can choose a variety of toppings that include: veggie, egg, chicken or beef options. Potatoes continue to delight their menu with sweet potato bars, potato soup and mini potato skins.

The Taco Truck [Tacos]:
The bright orange Taco Truck has become a staple on the foodie scene because of its green strategy!
Eco-conscious customers can rest easy knowing the truck uses ingredients that are locally grown and organic and even composts their food and to-go container waste.
But none of that takes away from their flavorful menu of tacos, tortas and more!
The highlight of their menu is their Fish Taco that offers crunchy bites of catfish, fresh salsa and a kickin' Chipotle sauce with a perfect amount of heat.
Where to find: Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 - 2:30pm on Washington Street facing Washington Park.
Cambodian Cuisine Torsu [Cambodian]:
Southeast Asia comes alive in Newark with Cambodian Cuisine Torsu providing a taste of Cambodia without the need for a plane ticket and jetlag.
Authentic dishes are cooked fresh and provide the perfect mix of spices, sauces and flavors to tickle exotic taste buds. Their menu includes noodle dishes, soups, curries and even a salad that can be found consistently Monday through Friday near the Rutgers-Newark campus. Where to find: Monday through Friday near Rutgers on Bleeker Street, Wednesdays at Washington Park
The Original Soupman [Lobster Bisque]:
Soup for you! The Original Soupman, made famous by Seinfeld's "Soup Nazi" has come to Newark!
The NY Times states that Al makes "art, not soup," and now its here in Newark via his soup mobile!
Soups are simmered daily providing the perfect blend of ingredients and spices, a sensory experience for the taste buds.
Their menu includes a richly layered Lobster Bisque, Chicken Gumbo, and those liquiphobes fear not,
The Original Soupman offers Rice Bowls, and Lobster Rolls. Have your money ready or no soup for you!

Mr. Cooper's Funneland [Sweet Treats]:
Craving some sweetness, longing for boardwalks from the Jersey Shore or reminiscing on childhood days at carnivals and state fairs...
Mr. Cooper's Funneland will satisfy the craving with unique sweet combos that include funnel cakes, fried oreos and waffles. Need a few samples to get you salivating like Pavlov's dogs?
...Peach Cobbler Funnel Cake, Red Velvet Waffle Ice cream Sandwich, Fried Oreo Sundaes.
All offerings are homemade using fresh ingredients.
